Arua Muslim District is a key administrative and religious jurisdiction under the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), the national governing body mandated to oversee and coordinate Muslim affairs across Uganda. Situated in the West Nile region, Arua Muslim District serves as a central structure for guiding religious, social, and community development initiatives among Muslims within its area of jurisdiction.

Operating under the broader framework and policies of UMSC, the District plays a vital role in strengthening Islamic values, ensuring effective leadership, and promoting the welfare of the Muslim community. It acts as a bridge between national leadership and grassroots Muslim populations, ensuring that programs, policies, and services are responsive to local needs.

Geographical Scope and Administrative Structure

Arua Muslim District covers three major local government areas: Arua City, Arua District, and Maracha District. These administrative units collectively form the operational landscape within which the District executes its mandate.

To enhance coordination and service delivery, the District is further subdivided into eight counties: Arua Central, Ayivu, Vurra, Maracha Town Council, Oleba, Tara, Ovujo, and Yivu. Each county represents a distinct geographical and socio-cultural context, supported by local leadership structures that facilitate effective community engagement, religious guidance, and program implementation.
